Welcome to UMDS
UMDS is a society that brings together student actors, writers, directors, producers and creatives to make some of Manchester’s most vibrant theatre. We offer multiple performance opportunities, producing three seasons of theatre throughout the academic year, as well as scratch nights, workshops and many other creative opportunities. Alongside these, we host regular socials where you can meet like-minded individuals.

2026/27 Aims
We love our Drama Society community dearly, and this year we want to give back to each and every member by creating more opportunities to get involved with theatre. With productions ranging from larger scale endeavours which we prepare over multiple months to more casual performances in front of a smaller group in workshops and performance-based socials, there’s something for everyone here at Drama Society, irrespective of prior experience. We can’t wait to see our members become the best versions of themselves, supported by a committee who value transparency and clear communication, and who care about each and every individual.
